Responsibilities

  • Provides support to Operations by developing and issuing RFP/RFQ events to prospective suppliers.
  • Determines best supply source(s) by executing and analyzing competitive RFP/RFQ’s.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Company and suppliers by negotiating costs and delivery requirements, recognizing priorities, and acting upon those needs.
  • Conducts regular supplier reviews as scheduled with all assigned suppliers and sponsors productivity improvement plans when critical areas for improvement are identified.
  • Facilitates the procurement process by issuing purchase orders and amendments in accordance with production requirements and inventory goals.
  • Responds to internal schedule changes, communicates these changes to the Supply Chain, and supports escalation or downgrades to current production schedules with external suppliers.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled outreach to the Supply Chain to ensure compliance with delivery schedules of purchased materials.
  • Ensures on-time delivery by expediting suppliers as required.
  • Provides support to the Purchasing Manager by advising of any unusual trends in cost, quality, or delivery.
  • Executes and manages strategic initiatives and projects in support of the Procurement strategy.
  • Responsible for component source development and qualification of suppliers as required.
  • Sponsors satisfactory resolution to any supplier quality issues that arise.
  • Works efficiently within production time standards to meet production deadlines.
  • Contributes to team effort by maintaining a positive outlook.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure customer needs are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or management or equivalent experience.
  • At least ten (10) years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace-related.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, understand, and effectively communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  • Customer focus with a sense of urgency for problem resolution.
  • Business acumen and professionalism in dealing with adverse or difficult situations.
  • Proven strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with DFARS-compliant materials and multiple government ratings (DO-A1, DX-A1, DPAS).
  • Familiarity with reading drawings and print requirements related to machined parts and their processes.
  • Experience with non-conforming material and resolution.
  • Strong communication skills with the supply base and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to source products efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accreditations (CPM, CPSM, CPIM, etc.).
  • Experience in strategic commodity and/or category management.
  • Background in multiple commodities, including machining and hardware items.

Physical Demands

  • May require lifting, pulling, and carrying up to twenty (20) pounds.
  • Frequent bending, climbing stairs, and reaching.
  • Sitting for up to eight (8) hours per day, standing up to eight (8) hours per day, or a combination of sitting and standing.
  • Ability to hear and see, with or without the assistance of a device.
  • May require overtime to complete important related tasks.

Travel

Light travel may be required.

Work Authorization

Must meet regulatory requirements.
