Analyst or Associate, Investment Banking
As an Investment Banking Analyst or Associate on the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure Investment Banking team (focusing on Renewables) at National Bank Financial Inc. ("NBF"), you will participate in a wide variety of transactions headed by senior members of the investment banking team. You will gain direct exposure to the firm’s business and deepen your knowledge of the industry.
Responsibilities
- Preparing presentation materials to support our clients’ capital decision making
- Providing support in the execution of M&A transactions
- Evaluating and analyzing the financial needs of corporate clients, including building complex financial models and performing valuation analysis
- Building complex financial models and performing valuation analysis
- Conducting a variety of industry and company research and analysis
- Supporting deal teams with transaction structuring in addition to executing advisory and financing mandates with increasing levels of responsibility and accountability over time
- Performing various tasks supporting senior team members in their deal execution and client coverage efforts
About the Team
NBF is a full-service, fully integrated investment bank with a strong presence in the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure sector. As an established player in the North American markets, NBF is committed to adding high-caliber resources. The team is approximately 15 people and is looking to expand its New York headcount.
The successful candidate will benefit from on-the-job training and mentorship, supplemented by occasional third-party training in financial modeling and various tools used in day-to-day work. Although the emphasis is placed on analysis, financial modeling, and written presentations, candidates must also demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and other advisors.
Requirements
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting, or a field related to the sector of activity
- At least 1 year of experience in investment banking, transactions advisory, equity research, or capital markets for Associate level
- Knowledge of fundamental financial theory, accounting, and capital markets
- Prior investment banking, transaction advisory, or corporate finance experience preferred
- Experience in, or knowledge of, the power, utilities, and infrastructure sectors would be valued
- Exceptional proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Demonstrated problem-solving mindset, collaborative approach, and great team spirit
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships
- Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written)

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $200,000 USD. This position is eligible for variable compensation.
