Analyst I, School Partnerships & Academic Success

Located in suburban northwest Houston at 9191 Barker Cypress Road, Cypress, TX 77433, Lone Star College-CyFair offers high-quality, low-cost academic transfer and career training education. The college provides a full range of offerings including unique programs in fire science technology, logistics management, and sonography, and supports an exciting learning environment with state-of-the-art technology and active, collaborative learning.
Responsibilities
- Monitor expenditures and budgets for the division of School Partnerships and Academic Success.
- Assist with the resolution of position management and budget issues.
- Review personnel/payroll forms as assigned.
- Monitor queries to ensure system processes are running, dispatching, validating, and updating; provide timely and accurate information for payment.
- Work collaboratively with all departments and serve as point of contact for the Executive Director and the Director for School Partnerships and Academic Success.
- Provide training, instruction, and ongoing support to different department positions, as needed.
- Monitor and process purchases; work closely with Accounts Payable to resolve issues with invoices.
- Create and analyze reports; complete cost analyses, expense projections, trend reports, and ad hoc reports for leadership and administrators at local ISDs.
- Ensure reporting procedures and approvals are attained and communicated for travel, following LSC expense reporting policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and information to end users regarding querying, reporting, and maintenance of HCM information; maintain department changes within iStar.
- Manage and provide recommendations for the development of School Partnerships and Academic Success annual operational and capital budgets.
- Provide proactive and ongoing oversight of the School Partnerships and Academic Success budget, including leadership for the annual budget development process.
- Assist and teach requesters in the division with requisition entry, PO closing, release of encumbrances, and pre-encumbrances.
- Utilize data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, Python, R, and SQL) to perform advanced data analysis and create visualizations.
- Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to analyze data and interpret detailed information, converting large volumes of data into knowledge-based reports and recommendations.
- Broad knowledge of general accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to successfully manage multiple tasks with overlapping timeframes while meeting deadlines.
- Strong initiative and analytical skills.
- Ability to utilize automated financial systems, specifically Hyperion Financial Planning and PeopleSoft FSCM.
- Strong working knowledge of PCs and related software, with a focus on Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in computer programming, query languages, and visualization platforms.
- Experience with reporting or querying tools.
- Experience using automation to improve workflow accuracy and efficiency.

Physical Abilities
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Pay
Hiring salary range is $48,152 - $55,375. Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
