About the Role

The Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst assists the Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis in understanding cost components and developing presentations for senior management. The Analyst participates in monthly, quarterly, and annual variance reviews, long-term financial management, strategic initiatives, and competitive analysis. The role also involves assisting with various ad hoc analyses as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis with forecasting, budgeting, and oversight of business units.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and business units to ensure forecasts align accurately with actuals.
  • Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual presentations for senior departmental leaders.
  • Provide data analytics and financial modeling to generate business insights.
  • Create models to highlight trends within the business and airline industry.
  • Collaborate with others to offer strategic guidance and decision support to cost center leaders through financial analysis and critical thinking.
  • Understand the impact of investment decisions on departmental and company-wide financials.
  • Update and improve current financial models and databases, including short- and long-term forecasts.
  • Partner and communicate effectively with different groups and organizational levels across JetBlue.
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting and analyses as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of relevant work experience.
  • Two (2) years of finance and/or analytical experience.
  • Experience with or basic understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
  • Extensive experience with Excel and PowerPoint; proficient with Word and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated Excel and financial modeling skills (a live work sample will be required during the hiring process).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (10%).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located; authorized to work in the U.S. (this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master’s of Business Administration (MBA).
  • Experience using Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
  • Advanced forecasting and modeling capabilities.
  • SQL experience.

  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and respond on short notice.
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance.
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, assist with light cleaning of the aircraft.

Work Environment

  • Equipment: Computer and other office equipment.
  • Work Environment: Traditional office setting.
  • Physical Effort: Generally not required, or up to 10 pounds occasionally (sedentary).

Pay

The base pay range for this position is between $62,000.00 and $101,000.00 per year.
