Analyst, Finance Newbuild
About the role
This role offers the chance to work in a highly dynamic and innovative environment by providing critical financial support to Royal Caribbean Group’s cutting-edge Newbuild and Innovation Organization. The finance team actively manages costs of the newbuild portfolio—approximately $30B on a rolling 5-year cycle—related to current and future projects. The team supports the Newbuild and Innovation Organization by providing financial guidance to operational and strategic processes and plays a critical role in fostering strong relationships with shipyards. The finance team collaborates closely with project and operational leaders to manage project financials, risk, and opportunities, while maintaining effective financial processes, controls, and reporting to enable timely decision-making compliant with RCG’s procedures.
The position is full-time, onsite in Miami, Florida, and not eligible for work authorization sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Update the financial management and cost tracking of the Vessel Revitalization budget, covering both Turnkey and Owner-supplied scope.
- Participate in meetings with key project and operational leaders to review budget status, monitor scope commitments, and escalate potential risks promptly.
- Maintain and continuously update all financial trackers and budget documents to reflect the most current forecasts.
- Support the identification, tracking, and management of risk items, ensuring they are addressed in each financial meeting with the project teams.
- Work closely with subject-matter experts to update and refine the current forecast, finalize budget change requests, and prepare corporate memos for capital requests and amendments.
- Assist the Lead/Finance Manager in creating financial presentations for monthly project team meetings, Oversight meetings, and Executive Committee meetings.
- Prepare and submit necessary journal entries to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Update the monthly capex file, manage the forecasting process for assigned ship(s), and provide variance explanations to the Capital Planning team.
- Support quarterly internal and external audit processes by preparing and providing required financial data.
- Aid in all ad-hoc financial analysis requests within the department.
- Contribute to the financial control of vessel construction costs, revitalizations, and projects—an active portfolio of approximately $30B on a rolling 5-year cycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required). MBA is a plus.
- 1–3 years of work experience.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with Business Intelligence Visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of operational personnel.
- Ability to think independently and explain complex solutions in a simple manner.
- Positive attitude with a proven history of success in project analysis, tracking, and implementation.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task while managing competing priorities with confidence and composure.
- Ability to succeed in a team environment and embrace cross-training as backup for other team members.
- Ability to share information and work in a standardized environment.
- Understanding of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
