About the role
The Warner Music Group's Center of Excellence for Shared Services is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to join our Participations group. This role involves preparing, analyzing, and distributing participation profit share and distribution statements according to contractual agreements, interpreting and summarizing artist and label contracts, and maintaining vendor master data.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute participation profit share and distribution statements according to contractual agreements
- Compile and review transactional data to support statement reporting
- Interpret and summarize artist and label contracts, create related statements and financial schedules, and provide contractual and financial data for deal models and analysis
- Apply financial accounting skills: review profitability analysis, identify variances and trends, create commentary to explain insights from financial statements, perform reconciliations, update cash forecasts and budgets, investigate audit issues and claims
- Maintain vendor master data, input, code, and coordinate payments
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across the company (up to senior executives), follow up open work items, and respond to requests from internal and external partners
- Communicate status and escalate issues as appropriate to your manager
- Learn Warner Music Group operational & accounting systems, develop expertise in participations accounting & operations
- Represent and contribute to the culture of the Participations group
Requirements
- BA/BS degree required, preferably in accounting or finance related fields
- 0-2 years of experience working in a related capacity
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, working with large data sets and complex calculations
- Possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Effective interpersonal skills, able to work cross-functionally and communicate with internal & external stakeholders
- Able to manage multiple priorities, execute tasks with accuracy and deliver under pressure
- Understand complex information quickly, breakdown and communicate to others
Qualifications
- Entertainment, Media, or Music Industry experience working in Participations/Royalties or similar role
- Financial statement preparation background
- Tech-savvy, exposure to SAP S4 Hana, MS Teams, SharePoint
