Analyst, Finance
About the role
The Analyst, Electric FP&A position at CenterPoint Energy coordinates and performs financial analyses, reporting, and planning associated with departments under Electric Operations. This role ensures alignment between business units and financial impact, as well as providing high-quality insights and reporting to Electric Operations leadership.
Responsibilities
- Liaison between Operations leaders and broader FP&A team to gather information related to Capital and Operating & Maintenance (O&M) spend both on a monthly basis for monthly forecast and on an annual basis for financial plan, including variance explanations.
- Collaborate with other FP&A team members to execute planning and forecasting activities for the company.
- Support Electric Operations FP&A Manager in the production of actual and forecasting models and reports on a monthly basis.
- Prepare and provide input for accurate and timely financial reports, including information to be reported in Electric Operations and Enterprise-wide monthly financial reports for senior leadership team to leadership.
- Cookorate with other FP&A team members to produce a timely and accurate production of annual plan, monthly forecasts, and any financial information required for Regulatory filings to meet stakeholder requirements.
- Perform Plan vs. Actuals analysis and ad-hoc reports as needed to assist in operational decisions.
- Work with the leadership team and Operations to improve understanding of financial drivers to drive successful execution of business initiatives.
- Provide trend analysis and financial insights which influence key business decisions.
- Support FP&A, broader CFO organization and Regulatory organization with any other insights and analysis as required.
Requirements
Essential Functions:

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent related experience.
- Engineering degree will also be considered if accompanied by relevant Finance or Accounting experience.
- 2-3 years or more of related experience such as Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, or Project Financial Analysis.
- Experience in Utility industry or Regulated business preferred.
- Experience in coordinating and working with various functions in an organization (Operations, Regulatory, Finance, Accounting).

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of financial modeling and regulatory compliance.
