Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 4 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or related fields

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD degree in a quantitative field like engineering, computer science, mathematics, or statistics
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment
  • Experience with scripting and coding (e.g., C/C++, Python, Java)
  • Experience with fraud or policy investigations, fraud risk management, Internet advertising, or e-commerce
  • Experience in roles related to business analysis, statistical analysis/machine learning/AI

About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for safeguarding the Google Ads ecosystem. This role is a blend of technical data analysis, strategic cross-functional leadership, and direct investigative work. You will use data to predict fraudsters' next moves, influence how engineering teams build detection systems, and ensure that safety measures do not disrupt the experience for legitimate advertisers. We are on a critical mission to protect Google's users and ensure online safety across core and emerging Ads products. Our team is at the forefront of raising the bar on content through coherent policies and scaled, effective enforcement. We have expanded beyond traditional product protections to manage emerging challenges—including brand safety, controversial content, violent extremism, and political interference driving expertise across Google's growing Ads ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional groups such as Product Manager (PM), Engineering, Sales, and Legal to drive projects that increase users' safety and provide a better online experience through Google Ads
  • Execute complex queries and analyses, build visual models, and construct presentations on abuse trends to aid in fraud prevention and influence change in existing abuse detection systems without compromising advertiser experience
  • Conduct investigations to catch fraudsters, enforce our product policies, learn scam patterns/trends, and identify product vulnerabilities
  • Identify automation and efficiency opportunities and drive solutions through analysis or cross-functional partnerships
  • Provide periodic on-call coverage and address escalations from both internal and external stakeholders within established service level agreements
  • Be exposed to some adult content and other potentially disturbing material during the course of these duties

Pay

US: $116,000 - $167,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
