About the Role

  • Identify and escalate red flags to senior analysts with clear, well‑evidenced rationale, and support ongoing risk review of already‑onboarded counterparties.
  • Maintain the Approved Counterparty List and ensure screening records are accurate and complete.
  • Support trade‑monitoring operations to identify patterns, outliers, and potential risk indicators in global trading activity.
  • Build a working understanding of the commodities ConocoPhillips trades and why counterparty screening matters to a global energy business.
  • Participate in business‑improvement projects that strengthen screening and monitoring processes, data, and systems.

Success Profile

  • Takes accountability – owns work, follows through on commitments, holds others accountable, and stands up for what’s right.
  • Makes decisions – builds effective solutions from available information and makes timely, safe, ethical decisions.
  • Drives performance – delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals.
  • Communicates effectively – listens actively, stays curious, invites new ideas, influences and acts to drive positive performance.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Finance, Economics, Law, Criminal Justice, International Relations, or a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in counterparty due diligence, sanctions or trade compliance, risk, banking, counterparty onboarding or contracts, or a related field (including internships).

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience reviewing and clearing sanctions or adverse‑media alerts, with hands‑on exposure to CDD/EDD and beneficial‑ownership reviews.
  • Familiarity with sanctions regimes (US OFAC, UK OFSI, EU, Canada, Norway, Australia) and screening tools.
  • Exposure to commodities/energy markets, or a demonstrated interest in learning them.
  • Working proficiency with Excel; exposure to data‑visualization tools (Power BI / Tableau) or SQL, or a demonstrated ability and drive to learn them.
  • Clear evidence of a self‑taught skill or topic – a certification, project, or capability pursued on personal initiative.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to work methodically through information and know when to escalate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation of reviews.

Benefits Overview

  • Medical, dental, vision, mental‑health support, and wellness programs.
  • Competitive base pay, annual performance bonuses, and retirement savings plans.
  • Paid time off, paid parental leave, and family‑support resources.
  • Access to training, mentoring, and internal career‑mobility tools.
