About the Role

The Analyst transforms clean data into real analysis. You review the Associate's work for accuracy and completeness, build model frameworks, and create custom or complex models as needed. Your role is to validate data, develop research and models, and support the Relationship Manager (RM) with quantified recommendations. You ensure all work is checked and accurate before it reaches the RM, focusing on judgment calls and strategic modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Data Review, Modeling & Analysis
    • Data Review: Review data entered by the Associate into balance sheets, eMoney, and other systems to confirm accuracy and completeness before use in models or deliverables.
    • Recommendation Modeling: Build models to quantify the impact of RM recommendations against the status quo, stress-test assumptions, and document findings clearly.
    • Tax & Technical Research: Execute research on complex tax and financial questions to assess strategy viability and flag risks (audit, regulatory, or implementation).
    • Scenario & Situational Models: Create models for specific fact patterns, such as liquidity events, buy/sell-side analysis, financial comparisons, insurance/investment analysis, and cash flow/estate scenarios.
    • AI-Enabled Analysis: Use AI for research, modeling, and drafting; verify outputs against source documents and math, correct errors, and own the final product.
  • Deliverables & Documentation
    • Client-Facing Materials: Collaborate with the RM to build client-ready slides and materials explaining strategy mechanics, assumptions, and implications.
    • Research Memoranda & Library: Write clear, well-cited research memos and maintain an organized research library for team reuse.
    • Deliverable Drafting & Delegation: Draft deliverables and delegate templated or data-entry tasks to the Associate.
    • Standard Templates: Use ACG’s standard templates where applicable.
  • Engagement Workflow
    • Document Request List: Help determine document requests based on the MD/RM’s strategy and curate the list collaboratively.
    • Meetings: Attend pre-kickoff and kickoff meetings; stay engaged in RM meetings to maintain context and flag analytical follow-ups.
    • Framework: Translate the RM’s strategy into the technical framework for the engagement, defining data, analysis, and diligence workstreams.
    • External Resources: Bring in outside resources as needed, with RM/MD approval.
    • Interface with the RM: Maintain close communication with the RM to understand the client’s full picture (financial, what’s changing, and recent history).

Requirements

  • Experience: Four or more years in finance, accounting, or tax (strong candidates stepping up from an Associate role are welcome).
  • Microsoft Office: Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Independent Modeling: Ability to build, flex, and troubleshoot financial models independently, including scenario design and assumption testing.
  • AI Fluency: Comfortable directing AI tools for research, modeling, and drafting; skilled at verifying outputs against source documents.
  • Technical Command: Strong understanding of financial and tax concepts.
  • Research Skills: Proficient in tax and legal research.
  • Analytical Rigor: Detail-oriented with strong analytical and critical-thinking skills; comfortable working with incomplete fact patterns and identifying key variables.
  • Distillation: Ability to simplify dense data into presentable models and presentations.
  • Communication: Strong written and oral skills to explain findings clearly.
  • Industry Knowledge: Solid financial planning fundamentals and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to build trust with colleagues and clients.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Banking & Finance, Managerial Finance, or Accounting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Credentials: CFA, CFP, or CPA exam eligibility/progress.
  • Tax Return Experience: Reviewing and researching personal, partnership, and corporate tax returns.
  • Software: Experience with eMoney, WealthTec, or MoneyGuide.
  • Advanced Modeling: Experience building multi-scenario cash flow, liquidity event, or transaction models for closely held businesses or high-net-worth families.
  • Research Platforms: Familiarity with CCH, Bloomberg Tax, and applying authority to client fact patterns.
  • Advanced Planning Exposure: Knowledge of trust & estate, multistate (SALT), or advanced planning structures.
