About the role
The Anahuac Farm Operations Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day operations of the farm and assist in maintaining and repairing grounds and equipment. This position supports daily operations through grounds maintenance, equipment operation, facility upkeep, seasonal property preparation, and collaboration with program staff.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact with vendors, contractors, and maintenance-related relations.
- Assist the Anahuac Productor Tradicional de Milpa in greenhouse management, tractor and equipment operation, tools and supplies management.
- Manage crop production, seed saving, harvest and distributions, and support cultural and community programming.
- Perform routine grounds keeping including mowing, weed control, brush removal, and landscaping.
- Maintain trails, driveways, parking areas, and common-use spaces.
- Lead the management of equipment and production inventory.
- Winterize the farm: Drain pipes to prevent ice cracking, insulate specific pipes, shut off the main land well and winterize the residential well.
- Maintain and check operation of heating and cooling systems.
- Repair minor damage to equipment, irrigation systems, structures, walkways, facilities, fences, fixtures as appropriate and reasonable.
- Operate and maintain equipment including tractors, forklifts, lawn mowers, utility vehicles, and other maintenance equipment.
- Report equipment issues and maintenance needs promptly to the Program Manager.
- Absorb and repair minor damage to equipment, irrigation systems, structures, walkways, facilities, fences, fixtures as appropriate and reasonable.
- Support in program activities, community events, and other operational needs as requested based on the capacity and request from the team.
Requirements
- Experience maintaining agricultural properties, facilities, or similar outdoor environments.
- Ability to work respectfully with diverse groups of people.
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow direction when needed.
- Adaptability and willingness to support multiple program areas and changing priorities.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Demonstrated ability to operate hand tools, tractors and farm equipment.
- Dependable, self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to think creatively, take initiative and serve as a thoughtful team member.
- Willingness to work occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings as program needs require.
- Ability to stay organized, follow written and verbal instructions and complete tasks on time.
