AMH Service Technician - Field

About the role

The Field Service Technician troubleshoots, repairs, and performs scheduled maintenance on fuel-powered (I.C.) and electric forklifts, as well as other related material handling equipment at customer locations.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and perform basic to complex repairs of forklifts and various types of industrial equipment on-site at customer locations.
• Perform thorough forklift inspections to identify any needed repairs and report all findings on work orders.
• Consult with customers regarding needed repairs or additional maintenance items.
• Follow all safety procedures and safely operate power tools, lifts, hoists, etc.
• Interpret schematics and use electrical diagnostic instruments effectively.
• Keep pace with industry innovations to make sound recommendations to customers.
• Manage billable time and work in process efficiently; maintain neat, legible, and organized paperwork.
• Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and management.
• Maintain an excellent driving record and safely operate the service vehicle.
• Manage truck stock and order parts through the parts department.
• Attend training classes and online courses as required.
• Identify larger jobs and communicate with customers and office staff to handle repairs and rental needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs (occasionally in excess of 75 lbs).
• Clear penmanship and ability to record accurate information.

Work Conditions / Physical Demands

• Physical stamina for continuous full-body motion, including climbing, reaching, pushing, lifting, and bending.
• Work in maintenance environments with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, or solvents; knowledge of proper safety procedures required.
• Work performed at customer locations such as manufacturing plants, warehouses, cold storage facilities, and other challenging or outdoor environments.
• May include working in a shop area.
