AMG Tooling Engineer

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Mold Manufacturing Manager, the AMG Tooling Engineer is responsible for optimizing higher-risk injection molding projects from quote through PPAP.

Responsibilities

• Research and implement mold tooling for new and different materials or processes
• Develop relationships with vendors specializing in related fields and obtain technical information and quotes for mold and related secondary equipment
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new sales opportunities and establish robust manufacturing processes
• Support HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS&S certifications by adhering to corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation
• Initiate and review flow analysis reports to ensure proper mold design for balance and cycle time
• Collaborate with material engineers, process engineers, and quality engineers to optimize systems and processes
• Lead onboarding activities for new tooling vendors
• Evaluate product design for moldability
• Assist in troubleshooting injection molding issues to introduce projects into production
• Evaluate needs for mold pressure and temperature sensing, EOAT, vision, or other inspection systems
• Work with process engineering, automation, IEs, maintenance, and other team members to implement strategies for maximizing OEE
• Create technical purchase orders and issue purchase orders for mold construction
• Perform other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Seven or more years of related experience in mold manufacturing and engineering, or five or more years with demonstrated progressive learning and responsibility
• Understanding of different plastic materials and their characteristics
• Experience in plastic injection molding
• Willingness to travel 2 - 4 times per year
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft software and CAD software
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and adequate automobile insurance
