About the role
The AmeriCorps Student Success Program is seeking AmeriCorps PAID Volunteers to provide one-on-one support for students at their assigned schools throughout Utah. Volunteers help students feel more excited about school and learning, gain confidence, and improve school performance.
Responsibilities
- Promote student attendance and implement improvement strategies
- Provide or arrange for one-on-one tutoring and other academic supports
- Promote and provide social emotional learning support
- Connect students and families with community resources to help meet basic needs
- Enhance school-family connections and assist with home visits as needed
- Help students set and achieve weekly goals to take ownership of their academic and behavioral progress
- Recruit and train volunteers to assist with one-on-one tutoring, mentoring, or school events focusing on literacy, career and college options, family involvement, etc.
Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Age 18+
- US Citizen or lawful permanent resident
- High standards of professional ethics and conduct
- Desire to make a difference in your community
- Basic computer skills preferred, including experience with spreadsheets (training is available)
- Able to serve during typical school hours and onsite either in elementary or secondary schools
- Experience working with children or youth preferred
- Good organization & communication skills
- Punctual, reliable, and a team player

- Experience working with children or youth preferred
- Interest in pursuing a career in education, social work, or another related field
Pay
$600-1600/month
Schedule
- Full-time: 1200 hours - 30-32 hours/week, 10 month term, approx. $1,600.00 monthly living allowance
- Part-time: 900 hours - 24-26 hours/week, 10 month term, approx. $1,200.00 monthly living allowance
- Quarter-time: 450 hours - 24-26 hours/week, 10 month term, $600.00 monthly living allowance
- Half-time: 675 hours, $2,817.14 monthly living allowance
- Quarter-time for volunteers over 55: $1,956.35 monthly living allowance
