About the role

The Robinson Community Learning Center (RCLC) is an off-campus educational initiative of the University of Notre Dame. AmeriCorps members serve here to promote innovation and excellence in South Bend, enhancing educational opportunities for all ages and building community capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Program Director with Theater Lab activities during the academic year and/or summer, including weekly rehearsals, set and costume preparation, and final performances of recitals and plays.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of Theater Lab activities, such as professional development presentations, teaching drama integration classes at local schools, and conducting after-school drama activities.
  • Contribute to drama curriculum development and implementation, aligning learning objectives with Indiana State Core Standards.
  • Support program evaluation by ensuring pre-post testing is completed at appropriate times and collecting and distributing evaluation surveys.
  • Explore and implement opportunities to expand existing programming to include additional activities, times, or sites.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for RCLC programs, support volunteers during and after activities, and document program activities through photographs and text.
  • Oversee special projects as requested and coordinate special events with RCLC program staff.
  • Attend weekly AmeriCorps meetings at the RCLC.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • Experience in theater, media, or the arts (Associate's or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Experience working with youth
  • Bilingual skills a plus

Benefits

  • Living Allowance: $21,000 for Full-time Members (1,700 hours of service), $11,000 for Half-time Members (900 hours of service), $5,000 for Quarter-time Members (450 hours of service), $4,000 for Minimum-time Members (300 hours of service).
  • Education Award: $7,395 for Full-time Members (1,700 hours of service), $3,697.50 for Half-time Members (900 hours of service), $1,956.35 for Quarter-time Members (450 hours of service), $1,565.08 for Minimum-time Members (300 hours of service).
  • Development Opportunities: Training and experience in education and workforce development, possible professional certifications, and collaboration with community partners and Notre Dame departments.

Pay

  • Full-time Members: $21,000 total living allowance
  • Half-time Members: $11,000 total living allowance
  • Quarter-time Members: $5,000 total living allowance
  • Minimum-time Members: $4,000 total living allowance

Schedule

  • Full-time Members: 1,700 hours of service
  • Half-time Members: 900 hours of service
  • Quarter-time Members: 450 hours of service
  • Minimum-time Members: 300 hours of service
