Americas Lead Lawyer – Commercial Legal Counsel

Responsibilities
- Review of appointment contracts received with client tenders to identify risks to Mace.
- Negotiation and drafting of appointment contracts and joint venture agreements, drafting supply chain step-down contracts.
- Closely liaise with commercial teams to manage the process of contract review through to signing of contracts and provide ad hoc advice through the life of the project.
- Contribute to legal department training sessions for commercial colleagues.
- Update precedent documents.
- Aid commercial colleagues in managing and mitigating potential dispute situations, raising and managing insurance notifications.
- Work with Mace’s insurance brokers and occasionally with external counsel.
Requirements
- Mid-level construction or general commercial lawyer, qualified in any jurisdiction relevant to the role.
- 3-7 years’ relevant experience in a legal role.
- Legal qualification in-house or in a private practice construction team or other relevant discipline.
- Risk reviews, negotiation and drafting of bespoke forms of consultancy appointment and all ancillary documentation such as LOAs, NDAs, PCGs, performance bonds, sub-consultant contracts, and collateral warranties.
- Understanding of insurance, public procurement law, and dispute avoidance.
- Fluent business and legal English (spoken and written).
- Experience of dealing with performance-based contracts, joint venture agreements, joint ventures and teaming arrangements.
- International legal or commercial experience.
- Experience with commercial digital contracts and data governance matters.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance issues including anti-bribery, data privacy, modern slavery, etc.
- Familiarity with industry standard forms of contract eg FIDIC, NEC.
- Business and legal Spanish (spoken and written).

Pay
The salary range for this position is £50,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
The role is full-time and is based in any Mace Consult location in the Americas Hub.
