American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor Pool-Part-Time

About the Role

Cypress College is accepting applications for Part-time American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor positions. The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants to fill part-time assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities as presented are intended to be representative and not restrictive. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment and allocation of duties in accordance with operational needs.

• Develop and implement effective teaching techniques and assessment methods.
• Engage student interest to support a variety of learning styles.
• Promote the use of instructional technology in curriculum delivery.
• Teach and mentor historically and socially minoritized/marginalized communities such as African-American/Black, Chicanx/Latinx, Pacific Islander, Native American, women, LGBTQIA+, and people with disabilities.

Requirements

• Any Bachelor’s degree or higher AND two years of professional experience directly related to the faculty’s teaching assignment.
• OR any Associate degree AND six years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s teaching assignment.
• OR possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.
• All degrees must be from accredited postsecondary institutions and verifiable on a legible transcript. Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts.
• Evaluations of foreign degrees and/or course work are required.

Qualifications

• Recent lower division or community college teaching experience.

Pay

• Lecture unit rate: $1572.67 – $1725.85 per unit.
• Lab parity unit rate: $1572.67 – $1725.85 per unit.
• Lab unit rate: $1258.16 – $1380.60 per unit.

Salary placement is based on education and experience, ranging from Column 1 to Column 3 on the adjunct salary schedule.
