American Girl NYC - Merchandise Handler (seasonal)

About the role

This seasonal Merchandise Handler role supports the American Girl New York City retail store’s back-of-house operations, including receiving, stocking, and shipping merchandise to maintain sales floor availability and store standards.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming stock shipments in a safe and orderly fashion.
• Maintain stockroom standards for merchandise placement, cleanliness, and safety.
• Pack and load trailers with returning merchandise (returns, rework, and doll hospital).
• Maintain stock on the retail sales floor, including special requests from retail partners.
• Monitor stock levels on an ongoing basis and fill in as necessary, adhering to visual standards.
• Assist in general retail execution, including floor moves, equipment maintenance, and collaborating with store personnel to ensure a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Perform special projects as requested.
• Demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing tasks to meet business needs.

Requirements

• 6 months to 1 year of experience in retail or service industry, preferably in material handling, shipping, receiving, retail, or warehouse stock handling.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Must be friendly, approachable, and willing to assist guests—especially children—in a respectful manner.
• Must be available to work open and close shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Pay

The hourly rate for this position is $18.50 – $19.00. The rate is based on a candidate’s education, skills, and experience.
