Ambulatory Registered Nurse (Flint Hills) - Cardio Pulm Rehab - PRN
About the role
The staff nurse is a professional who utilizes excellent communication and customer relations skills in assessing, counseling and educating patients on lifestyle modifications as it relates to cardiovascular risk factor reduction and improved quality of life. The nurse is responsible for assessing the patient's physical response to exercise and psychological response to the illness. The nurse formulates a plan of care that will enhance the patient's recovery from a cardiovascular incident or use supervised exercise training for peripheral artery disease. Identifies patient's learning needs and implements appropriate measures to meet these needs by providing coaching directed toward behavioral change. Has a strong upstanding of billing and reimbursement issues related to the management of patients in Phase 2 rehabilitation, Phase 3 rehabilitation, and SET for PAD.
Responsibilities
- Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient, situation, or setting.
- Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential problems, and issues.
- Develops a collaborative plan encompassing strategies to achieve expected outcomes.
- Promote infection prevention through use of standard precautions, proper procedure in dressing changes, wound care, hand hygiene and cleanliness of the patient rooms/department.
- Implements identified plan through coordination of care and employs strategies to promote health and wellness.
- Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
- Delivers professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring illustrated by creating caring relationships, taking time to have uninterrupted moments with patients and displaying unconditional acceptance and respect.
- Promotes a mutually respectful environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and supports the effectiveness of professional relationships and integrates ethics in all aspects of practice.
- Demonstrates advocacy in all roles and settings.
- Communicates effectively in all areas of professional practice.
- Mentors nurses new to their role for the purpose of ensuring successful enculturation, orientation, competence, and emotional support.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Preferred Experience Qualifications: 6 months Prior work experience in Cardiology

- Understands the pathophysiology, the treatment and the recovery process for the outpatient, recovering from coronary artery events (i.e. CABG, PTCA, MI, Valve Repair, stable angina, heart failure and intermittent claudication.)
- Identifies patient/so learning needs and implements appropriate measures to meet these needs by providing coaching directed toward behavioral change.
Skills
- Registered Nurse - KSBN
- A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted.
- BLS RQI, CPR or ACLS certifications may be required in lieu of or in addition to BLS depending on department.
