Ambulatory Nurse II

About the Role

The Ambulatory Nurse II Colleague is a Registered Nurse (RN) who practices as a full partner on the healthcare team at Penn Medicine, a leading academic medical center. This role involves providing patient care through the nursing process, with accountability for assigned patients ranging from infancy to the elderly. The Ambulatory Nurse II collaborates closely with an interprofessional team to coordinate care across the continuum, focusing on individualized care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate considerations.

Responsibilities

• Integrate best current evidence with clinical expertise and patient/family preferences for optimal healthcare delivery.
• Minimize risk of harm to patients, families, providers, and self through system effectiveness and individual performance.
• Demonstrate commitment to the nursing profession through lifelong learning, adherence to ANA’s Code of Ethics, participation in professional organizations, and community outreach.
• Provide person and family-centered care, recognizing the patient as the source of control and a full partner in compassionate, coordinated care.
• Collaborate effectively and apply innovative, systems thinking to engage in evidence-based problem solving and decision-making to promote changes within a complex care delivery system.
• Utilize appropriate information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making across the continuum.
• Engage in cooperation, coordination, and collaboration within inter- and intra-professional teams to ensure safe, quality patient outcomes.
• Use data and quality improvement methods to identify problems and opportunities for safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable care.
• Perform duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited school of nursing (Required).
• More than 15 months of relevant professional nursing experience (Required).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing (Preferred).

Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications

• Active RN licensure in Pennsylvania (Required).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) (Required).
