About the role

The Radiology Technologist Supervisor provides day-to-day supervision for an assigned Radiology area to include STAR Service, legal and regulatory compliance, clinical operations, human resources, safety & quality, customer service, leadership, and fiscal responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with VCU and VCUHS policies and procedures.
  • Work directly with lead technologists and front line staff to solve problems and reduce barriers to success.
  • Implement new initiatives, programs and policies.
  • Work collaboratively with other Radiology Supervisors, Managers, Faculty and staff to ensure a high level departmental safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Report to the Modality Manager and is responsible for the clinical functions and processes for assigned Radiology area.
  • Supervise, oversee, maintain and improve business functions and processes related to his/her areas of responsibility.
  • Develop staff education and competencies including educational materials, competency forms, etc.
  • Provide education to assigned team, students, residents, and other learners.

Requirements

  • Licensure, Certification, Or Registration Requirements For Hire: Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) required for Diagnostic Supervisor. Plus one of the following specialty registries that is directly related to their department: ARRT in Mammography for Breast Imaging Supervisor, ARRT CT for CT Supervisor, ARRT MRI for MRI Supervisor, ARRT CV or VIR for Interventional Supervisor, ARRT CT or MRI required for 3D lab supervisor, (CI) Cardiac Interventional Radiography, (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, (RCES) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist.
  • Licensure, Certification, Or Registration Requirements For Continued Employment: Current Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) required for Diagnostic Supervisor. Plus one of the following current specialty registries that is directly related to their department: ARRT in Mammography for Breast Imaging Supervisor, ARRT CT for CT Supervisor, ARRT MRI for MRI Supervisor, ARRT CV or VIR for Interventional Supervisor, ARRT CT or MRI required for 3D lab supervisor, (CI) Cardiac Interventional Radiography, (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, (RCES) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist.
  • Education/training REQUIRED: Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology that is recognized by the ARRT.
  • Education/training PREFERRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Radiation Science, Business, or closely related field from an accredited program is strongly preferred. Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or closely related field from an accredited program is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of Lead Tech radiologic technology experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of technical experience.
  • Experience performing in a leadership role.
  • Previous work experience in an academic medical center environment.
