Ambulatory Divisional Registered Nurse (RN) - Urology - Days

About the role

The Ambulatory Divisional Registered Nurse supports clinical care across multiple outpatient locations, collaborating with Ambulatory Leadership, Division Chair, Medical Director, and care teams to develop and manage processes for safe, timely ambulatory care.

Responsibilities

• Follows physician/licensed provider orders within the Nurse Practice Act, licensure, and established standards, policies, and practice guidelines.
• Triage patient calls and in-basket messages according to ambulatory and division-specific standards.
• Facilitates training to improve the specialty knowledge base across all ambulatory clinic locations.
• Partners with care teams to prepare charts for return visits, review records, and schedule patients into the correct clinics.
• Provides disease and procedure-specific education to patients in clinic settings.
• Creates educational materials to support commonly encountered topics within the division.
• May assist providers during clinical procedures across the division.
• Collaborates with providers, Assistant Clinical Managers, Program Coordinators, and Nurse Navigators to ensure continuity of care across clinic sites for specific patient populations.
• Performs multi-site nursing visits as directed by providers, including education, treatments, or assessments.
• Serves as a liaison for prior authorization requirements, specifically for emergent/same-day prior authorizations and denial appeals.
• Aids providers in obtaining clinic testing and treatment.
• Maintains patient satisfaction and customer feedback, taking prompt action on issues to strive for service excellence.
• Serves as a nursing clinical role model and division subject matter expert for managing ambulatory patients across multiple sites.
• Partners with Assistant Clinical Managers and clinic nursing staff to support providers in obtaining clinic testing and treatment.
• Contributes to revising and developing clinical practice and/or nursing care guidelines for specific patient populations using current best evidence.
• Seeks collaborative relationships that can lead to effective partnerships in research, evidence-based practice, or process improvement.
• Accepts alternate assignments as required.

Requirements

• Licensure/Certification: Current Registered Nurse license, BLS Certification.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program. Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program preferred.

Qualifications

• Years and Type of Required Experience: Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required. 1-2 years preferred experience in the designated pediatric or adult division.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and time management skills; ability to set priorities, make timely decisions, and meet multiple deadlines; ability to work collaboratively within a large complex, fast-paced environment.
