About the role

Works with members of the health care team to provide safe and effective drug therapy. Serves as a drug information resource to pharmacy, nursing, and medical staffs as well as to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Safely dispenses medications according to physician orders and patient needs.
  • Provides drug information and education to pharmacy, nursing, and medical staffs as well as to patients.
  • Monitors medication effectiveness and side effects.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of Bachelor of Science (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in pharmacy degree.
  • Licensure: Requires a current pharmacist license from state of practice.
  • Completed PGY-1 or 4 years hospital pharmacy experience in specialty area.
  • Certifications: Eligible for Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification (preferred in area of specialty practice).
  • Pharmacists practicing in Missouri must have a Medication Therapy Service Certificate as issued by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of start date.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Licensure
  • Preferred Experience: Four or more years clinical experience and a PGY -2 residency is preferred.
  • Preferred Certifications

  • Knowledge of pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences.
