Ambulance Billing Clerk
About the role
The St. Lucie County Fire District is seeking an Ambulance Billing Clerk to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Process ambulance billing claims
- Verify patient eligibility and insurance coverage
- Enter and maintain accurate billing information
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and coding standards
- Communicate with patients and providers regarding billing issues
- Prepare and submit monthly billing reports
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in a billing or accounting role
- Knowledge of healthcare billing and coding practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
- Valid Florida driver’s license
Qualifications
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Pay
$43,134.62 (Step 1)
Schedule
This position follows a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The incumbent may be required to work occasional overtime, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs or special assignments.
Employment
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing all pre-employment requirements established by the St. Lucie County Fire District. These requirements include, but are not limited to, background screening, fingerprint-based criminal history check, Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Access Clearance, pre-employment medical evaluation, drug screening, psychological evaluation (when applicable), verification of certifications and employment history, and any other requirements required by federal, state, or District policies.
