About the role

The University of Oklahoma Division of Student Affairs is looking for highly personable, operationally focused undergraduate and graduate students to serve as ambassadors and event planners for Esports and Co-Curricular Innovation (ECCI). This role serves as the face and moderator of the OU Esports & Gaming Complex during operational hours, responsible for transitioning the gaming lounge from a passive space to an active, welcoming community. Additionally, this role acts as an ambassador dedicated to the creation, promotion, and execution of ECCI’s community events.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the OU Esports & Gaming Complex in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Provide exceptional, proactive customer service to all guests and VIPs in physical and digital spaces.
  • Facilitate virtual, physical, and hybrid gaming/esports event programming and casual activations (e.g., TCG nights, watch parties, impromptu community games).
  • Maintain active moderation and community-building within the OU Gaming Club Discord, including greeting new members and initiating daily conversations.
  • Ensure compliance with Title IX and other University policies & procedures.
  • Actively cultivate the community by hosting events tailored to community requests and gaming trends while prioritizing revenue-capable activations.
  • Collect media artifacts (photos, videos, testimonials) during operational hours and events to support marketing teams.
  • Provide promotional support through scheduled tabling, chalking, and executing marketing workflows for major semester pushes and VIP program awareness.
  • Maintain venue operational awareness, complete required documentation and shift reporting accurately, and ensure the space is clean, functional, presentable, and secure at all times.
  • Work a flexible schedule when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a current or incoming OU Student and enrolled in the SUMMER and/or FALL semester(s).
  • If not yet enrolled for classes, attach a document explaining actual or estimated application and/or enrollment date in the area reserved for class schedule.
  • Applicants must be located in the Norman or OKC Metropolitan area to be considered for employment.
  • Required attachments: Resume, Cover Letter, Class Schedule.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide welcoming, high-energy interactions and help cultivate the OU Gaming Club community.
  • Willingness to learn and execute technical SOPs, facility management documentation, and gaming/esports lounge operations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to handle day-to-day disputes autonomously and escalate major concerns appropriately.
  • Proficiency with Discord for communications, community management, and an understanding of social media/live stream platforms.
  • Strong process improvement skills/experience.
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative and respectful manner.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Esports, the latest gaming technology, and trends.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity at all times.
  • Self-motivation, attention to detail, and organization skills.
  • Skills and accomplishments in collaborative work with internal and external constituencies.
  • Strong strategic planning skills and exceptional communication skills, including conflict resolution and the ability to present and facilitate programs and events.
  • Superb judgment and analysis in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Commitment to, and respect of, the sensitivity of students’ disabilities, health concerns, socioeconomic status, immigration and citizenship status, through actions and interactions.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in fundraising and sponsorship solicitation.
  • Previous experience in campus programming and/or facilitating events.
  • Previous experience working with others.
