About the role
The Summary FSQA Associate I is an entry-level position responsible for ensuring food safety and quality standards in the Daily’s Premium Meats processing plant.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-operational and operational sanitary inspection of production and auxiliary areas in the plant.
- Perform verification inspection and testing at the designated frequencies of following tasks: product temperatures, injection tests, net weight checks, product quality checks, label verification, metal detection and sell by verification.
- Document findings and report any issues to appropriate personnel.
- Verify employees’ adherence to GMPs, SSOP, and company policies.
- Perform monitoring activities in accordance with documented frequencies.
- Place non-conforming product on QA Hold status.
- Accurately document all fields within FSQA paperwork to ensure all inspections are within company’s quality standards.
- Perform other related responsibilities, as needed, to support Daily’s business objectives.
Requirements
- Education: Certification in one production department.
- Experience: Follows instructions and completes tasks.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of people; working knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of GMPs, USDA guidelines, HACCP regulations and company policies; basic math skills including ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide; capability of working with and calculating percentages; ability to read, write and communicate in English; ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with coworkers, supervision, and USDA personnel; analytical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills, ability to assess observations and communicate results; ability to adhere to specifications; ability to make informed decisions on plant floor and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Physical Demands: Sitting 10%, walking 60% (concrete, wet surfaces), standing 30% (concrete, wet surfaces), lifting up to 40 lbs., near acuity (clarity of vision at 20 inches or less), talking and hearing, frequent bi-lateral use of hands.
- Work Environment: Temperature variations - average of 40 degrees, exposure to noise above 85 dB (hearing protection required).
- Work Schedule: Hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work as scheduled.
