About the role
The Alzheimer's Disease Coalition Coordinator serves as the statewide coordinator for the Alzheimer's Disease Partnership and performs highly complex public health program planning, development, and implementation to support ADP priorities and strategic initiatives. This role also involves supporting federal grant activities, including grant applications, implementation, management, reporting, and evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates, supports, and facilitates the statewide Alzheimer’s disease coalition and workgroups to advance the Texas State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease and implement CDC BOLD grant priorities.
- Plans and convenes coalition meetings, independently managing logistics, schedules, and materials and leading workgroup activities, including using Microsoft Teams and related platforms to schedule meetings, manage invitations, and facilitate virtual connection.
- Serves as the primary ADP liaison to the coalition and supports partnership development to expand membership.
- Develops quarterly coalition newsletter and coordinates education activities to support engagement.
- Tracks coalition activities, gathers partner feedback, and assists with updates to the Texas State Plan for Alzheimer’s Disease.
- Ensures coalition activities align with the State Plan, legislative mandates, and grant requirements and are completed timely, using strong organizational skills and independent judgment to manage multiple priorities.
- Supports federal grant activities, including development of new and continuation applications, work plans, and required deliverables.
- Tracks grant implementation progress and assist with preparation of progress reports and other required submissions.
- Remains current on public health best practices related to ADRD to inform program planning and activities and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assists with contract development and monitoring.
- Affords technical assistance to program staff, internal and external partners, and leadership on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).
- Develops and disseminates program materials, newsletters, fact sheets, resources, reports, briefings, and other documents and ensures compliance with Section and Division policy.
- Participates in external statewide, regional and/or local partnerships or coalitions to support the implementation of ADRD best practices on caregiver support, early detection and diagnosis, and care planning.
- Supports development and maintenance of inter- and intra-agency relationships to facilitate collaboration and information sharing across program areas, including participation in special projects as assigned.
- Attends the Texas Council on Alzheimer’s Disease, prepares program updates, talking points, and presentation materials as requested.
- Ensures a high level of coordination and communication of ADRD-related activities within ADP, Section, and across DSHS and Health and Human Services programs related to aging and health promotion.
- Gathers and interprets information to identify best practices and provides recommendations to the ADP Manager.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university required, with degree relevant to public health or health education or related field preferred.
- At least two (2) years of experience in a field related to dementia, community preventative services, health promotion, or public health.
- Experience working with coalitions, grants, project management, and stakeholder or community engagement preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of public health practices at the local, state, and national levels.
- Knowledge of program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of federal grant processes, including application development, work plans, reporting requirements, and performance tracking.
- Knowledge of professional program materials, including reports, briefings, newsletters, and presentations aligned with organizational standards.
- Knowledge of internal review processes, including coordination of multi-level review and approval workflows.
- Knowledge of quality improvement practices and use of data or feedback to inform program activities.
- Knowledge of best practices for caregiver support and ADRD early detection and diagnosis.
- Knowledge of the Texas ADRD State Plan.
- Skills in gathering and analyzing data to inform program decisions and developing concise reports and written materials.
- Skills in working with a variety of partners and committees comprised of internal and external stakeholders, including facilitating meetings and supporting collaboration.
- Skills in coalition coordination, partnership development, and stakeholder engagement across multiple organizations.
- Skills in developing and delivering presentations to both lay and professional audiences, including creating PowerPoint presentations that align with organizational branding standards.
- Skills in organizing and coordinating meetings and events, including scheduling, managing logistics, and facilitating virtual meetings using Microsoft Teams.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint for document management and collaboration.
- Skilled in coordinating internal review processes, including tracking edits, incorporating feedback, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
- Ability to support management of federal grants, including tracking progress, meeting reporting requirements, and maintaining compliance with grant expectations.
- Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and professional reports, briefings, and program documents.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgement and initiative in completing assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and engage effectively with internal and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize competing deadlines, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to interpret public health and healthcare related professional literature and apply findings to program planning and improvement.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders based on shared priorities.
- Ability to coordinate meetings, materials, review processes, including managing logistics, timelines, and stakeholder input.
