Alumni Engagement Officer (Annual/Alumni Giving Officer II)
About the role
The University of Maryland School of Nursing seeks a collaborative, creative, and detail-oriented professional to serve as its Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving Officer. Reporting to the Director of Development, this position supports the school’s annual giving, alumni engagement, communications, and volunteer initiatives, helping strengthen connections among more than 26,000 alumni and friends. The Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving Officer plans and executes annual giving campaigns, manages alumni communications across multiple platforms, coordinates volunteer leadership activities, and supports events that advance the school’s philanthropic and engagement goals. The successful candidate will be an organized project manager and strong communicator who enjoys building relationships and creating meaningful experiences for alumni, donors, students, and volunteers.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and execute annual giving campaigns and engagement activities designed to increase alumni participation and philanthropic support.
- Coordinate annual solicitation calendars, including digital, print, and social media appeals, and monitor campaign performance and participation metrics.
- Lead the coordination and development of alumni communications, including newsletters, magazine content, email campaigns, print materials, website updates, and other engagement channels.
- Manage UMSON Connect, the School's online alumni community platform, including content creation, user engagement, data management, and promotion.
- Provide administrative and programmatic support to alumni volunteer groups and advisory boards, including coordinating meetings, preparing materials, tracking membership, and supporting volunteer engagement initiatives.
- Assist in planning and executing development and alumni events, including reunions, networking opportunities, donor recognition events, and student engagement programs.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, university partners, and volunteers to create meaningful opportunities for alumni involvement and connection.
- Track and analyze engagement and annual giving data to assess program effectiveness and inform future strategies.
- Maintain accurate records and support the effective use of alumni and donor databases and engagement systems.
- Support additional development and alumni relations initiatives and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Three years of experience in annual giving, alumni relations, communications, marketing, event planning, or higher education advancement.
