Alumni Engagement Host / Tour Guide

About the role

The mission of West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) is to “Serve West Point and the Long Gray Line.” WPAOG is both the alumni association and foundation for the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point. Our vision is to ensure the Long Gray Line remains the most highly connected alumni body in the world.

Responsibilities

• Host and lead “Grad Insider Tours” of West Point for returning graduates and their guests.
• Curate return experiences for graduates, lasting 2-2.5 hours.
• Drive a large 14-passenger van, often in tight spaces, while speaking to guests via a microphone headset.
• Walk as many as two miles during any given tour.
• Guide guests through West Point’s history, culture, and mission, helping them connect with their personal memories and experiences.
• Ensure guests feel personally welcomed, thoughtfully attended to, and genuinely understood.

Requirements

• A deep understanding of West Point history, culture, and mission.
• Natural and charismatic hosting abilities.
• Excellent people skills.
• Comfortable and confident driving a large vehicle.
• Ability to walk long distances.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a tour guide is welcome, but not required.
• Strong people skills are valued above all prior tour guide experience.
• Candidates who are West Point graduates, reside on post at West Point, or demonstrate strong sustained engagement within the West Point community will be especially competitive.

Benefits

This position will pay between $18.00 - $20.00 an hour, based on skills and experience.

Hours will vary based on tour schedules and events, but typically require flexibility and availability outside of regular business hours.
