Aluminum Welder 2nd Shift
Technique is looking for an experienced Aluminum Welder to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. This role involves welding aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel using MIG/TIG equipment, supporting quality assurance with part layouts and inspections, and completing welding assemblies to customer requirements.
Schedule
Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM–2:00 AM
Responsibilities
- Set up and use MIG/TIG welding equipment to weld GTAW and GMAW aluminum and mild steel joints
- Assemble exhaust assemblies, racks, and prototyping fixtures
- Perform 1st piece table layouts and troubleshoot builds using CMM reports
- Maintain accurate job documentation for all production runs
- Load and run robot welder in auto mode and make repairs on assemblies after robotic welding
- Investigate and correct issues found during build and/or inspection of an assembly
- Ensure products shipped meet internal and customer requirements per CMM reports, blueprints, and AWS specifications
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Welding Manager
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED; vocational training preferred
- AWS Certification required
- 1–2 years of welding experience in an industrial setting
- Demonstrated experience TIG and/or MIG welding aluminum
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T notation
- Ability to use hand and layout/inspection tools
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Basic problem-solving skills
- Forklift license preferred
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the shift
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise
- No travel required
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
