1st & 2nd Shift Aluminum Welders

About the role
Tri-Arc is seeking Steel and Aluminum MIG Welders for 1st shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) and 2nd shift (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM, plus an additional $0.60/hour) at our plant in Blawnox, PA. Aluminum welders also receive an additional $1.00 per hour premium (paid at time-and-a-half) for hours spent welding aluminum; this premium is paid separately and is not included in the base hourly rate. The right candidate(s) will have the opportunity to join the United Steelworkers Union after completing 520 probationary hours. All candidates must pass a welding test and bring their own welding gear.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, or tend welding machines that join or bond components to fabricate metal products or assemblies.
- Assemble, align, and clamp workpieces into holding fixtures to bond, heat-treat, or solder fabricated metal components.
- Lay out, position, align, and fit components together (usually in fixtures).
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding.
- Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Set up equipment and weld parts, using MIG welding equipment.
- Assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
- Operate various punch presses, drill presses, shears, saws, and tube bending equipment.
- Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of MIG welding techniques; formal welding training/certification preferred but not required.
- Ability to read simple blueprints and work orders (or willingness to learn).
- Must pass a welding test as part of the hiring process.
- Must supply own welding gear.
- Basic understanding of shop safety practices.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and exposure to heat, fumes, and noise.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to wear required PPE (welding helmet, gloves, protective clothing) for full shift.
- Exposure to heat, sparks, fumes, and loud noise typical of a welding environment.
Pay
Competitive starting rate of $24.33/hour (1st shift) and $24.93/hour (2nd shift).
Schedule
- 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- 2nd shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM (plus an additional $0.60/hour)
