Aluminum Extrusion Operator - 1st Shift

Department: Extrusion | Reports to: Shift Facilitator with direction from the Team Captain

Schedule

1st Shift: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40+ hours over 4 days). Friday and Saturday may be scheduled as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Run the Extrusion Press, Saw, Stretcher, Forklift, or Overhead Crane
  • Inspect parts and perform visual checks for surface defects
  • Monitor and remove press scrap
  • Monitor temperatures
  • Read and understand a tape measure
  • Assist other personnel and perform additional duties as directed by supervisor
  • Inform the Supervisor of any equipment problems or other issues
  • Work safely at all times, wearing all required Proper Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain a clean, clutter-free workstation
  • Participate in a collaborative environment
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures
  • Accept feedback from the Team Captain to ensure bundles meet safety standards
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned

Work Environment / Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle tools or controls, and communicate
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus
  • Works near moving mechanical parts in a loud environment without air conditioning

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must pass a skills-based test
  • Prior experience running an Aluminum Extrusion Press
  • Strong interpersonal skills; self-motivated and efficient
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to solve practical problems and handle variables
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Conscientious, diplomatic, and detail-oriented
  • Must pass a company background check and drug screen
