Responsibilities
- Create and facilitate day-long interventions for students and families.
- Receive referrals from alternative settings and obtain necessary documentation from LEA.
- Absorb scheduling and coordinating needed evaluations.
- Coordinate with students and school personnel to reach academic and vocational outcomes as applicable.
- Provide guidance to personnel on how to help students achieve goals and objectives.
- Ensure that all recipients' records are properly maintained, stored, and kept confidential at all times.
- Lead the alternative settings and district team to select appropriate curricula for working with students.
- Implement appropriate curricula or demonstrate creativity in developing programs/training to assist personnel.
- Provide guidance to alternative settings and district personnel on how to help students receive identified services in order to achieve goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with community partners to schedule, plan, and attend events and training to further ensure student goals are met.
- Handle student, work site, and/or district complaints and works to resolve the problem.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality, a professional demeanor, and represents both organizations in a positive manner at all times.
- Ensure all monthly reporting is completed accurately and sent to designated personnel timely.
- Document student progress and complete other documentation necessary for students' future.
- Understand and keep up to date with new technology, community resources, and assistive devices available to students.
- Communicate through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature.
- Comply with accounting and financial policies and procedures, as well as other Board policies.
- May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities.
- Attends meetings as needed.
- Prepares or completes various documents, reports, and correspondence as required.
- Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, typing documents, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, processing incoming/outgoing mail, or running errands.
- Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
- Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law and Code of Professional Conduct as defined by Board Policy 5.6011.
- Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times.
- Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to schools, community, businesses, Superintendent of Schools, Board of Education, and other stakeholders.
- Works collaboratively with all stakeholders.
- Follows established procedures to ensure assigned areas are safe.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Attends work and arrives to work on time.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Human Services, or related field required;
- Two (2) years of experience in serving high risk student populations, social services, teaching, or other student services required;
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job;
- Maintain a valid state issued driver’s license;
- Master’s degree in related fields preferred.
