About the role

The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPW&T) is seeking an Alternative Fuel Program Specialist (Transit), (Engineering Technician 3A) grade A20 position in the Office of Transportation/Transit Fleet & Facility Division.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains oversight and strategic planning for the transit Zero Emission Bus (ZEB) program.
  • Supports programs and initiatives promoting alternative fuel vehicles and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Oversees vehicle operations, charging operability, and general maintenance.
  • Coordinates with multiple departments to provide input and recommendations based on data analysis and best practices.
  • Monitors and reports the state of the alternative fuel fleet and facility maintenance program.
  • Develops vehicle/equipment specifications and makes recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Investigates service issues and monitors field location corrective measures.
  • Performs analysis of alternative fuel program usage and trends.
  • Develops and maintains an alternative fuel asset management plan.
  • Aids in developing fiscal recommendations for annual program budgets.
  • Assists in overseeing and auditing inventory related to vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintains oversight and inspection of equipment, vehicles, and office areas.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by college level courses in higher mathematics and civil engineering.
  • Four (4) years of para-professional engineering experience.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by college level courses in higher mathematics and civil engineering, four (4) years of para-professional engineering experience, and possession and maintenance of a valid driver's license.
  • Preferred qualifications include two (2) years of experience in multi-modal transit operations or transportation service, one (1) year of experience working with or managing alternative fuel vehicles, experience as an experienced master electrician or Project Management Professional (PMP), renewable energy professional (REP), or clean energy certification, and three (3) years of project budget management experience.
