Alternative Educational Coordinator
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Educator to oversee our academic programs and student support services. You will bridge the gap between curriculum development, individualized education plans (IEPs/504s), and overall student well-being. The ideal candidate is a strong instructional leader who can train teachers, build a positive school culture, and guide students toward graduation and career readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the alternative education program, ensuring alignment with state educational standards and district policies.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized learning plans, credit recovery options, and blended learning opportunities.
- Model effective crisis management, build positive school culture, and provide behavioral support to students with at-risk characteristics.
- Train, coach, and support educators in delivering high-quality, non-traditional instruction.
- Act as the primary liaison between students, parents, administration, and community agencies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for Virginia Teaching Licensure with Administration and Supervision PreK-12.
- Skills: Exceptional organizational, conflict resolution, and communication skills. Knowledge of or experience with trauma-informed practices is highly desired.
