Alltrista - Controller, Plant

Position Summary

Serves as the proactive financial controller/leader on the plant management team and support JPS financial directives with accurate and prompt sales and financial forecasting, reporting and analysis.

Primary Functions

• Maintains the Cost Accounting system for the plant.
  • This includes but is not limited to, maintaining updated quotes and standards for all raw materials and finished goods, reconciling WIP GL balance to the subledger, monitoring and researching variances as needed, ensuring that the inventory GL balances tie to the inventory subledger.
• Maintains General Ledger for the plant.
  • Ensures adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
    • Performs subledger reconciliations, maintain records on all company transactions and assets in compliance with GAAP and company policy.
• Prepares and develops operating budgets and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances.
  • Directs and coordinates the financial affairs of the facility with Division support and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and periodic financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management.
• Responsible for the accuracy of the manufacturing cost system and for improvements to accuracy.
  • Leads the weekly and monthly sales forecasting efforts for the plant.
• Maintains a fixed asset and capital spending reporting system.
  • Supports the team environment by performing all individual assignments as management may direct.
• Promotes a proactive and aggressive attitude towards continuous improvement at the facility.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Three to five years of experience in general accounting in a manufacturing facility.
• Six to twelve years of experience in the proactive compilations and analysis of financial information using spreadsheets, databases, and other financial reporting software.
• Must be able to work with a high degree of independence.
• Must be able to provide strong financial leadership to the plant.
• Working knowledge of the following areas: business principles, legal practices, accounting practices, budgeting principles, and computer information systems.
• Must be able to handle and safeguard sensitive and proprietary information in a confidential manner.

Physical Requirements

• Normal manufacturing environments; work with machinery and media in or around confined spaces; exposure to chemicals, grease and oils.
• Sufficient physical ability to perform heavy lifting and carrying; reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing; standing for moderate periods of time.
• Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.
• Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
• Other: Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
