Responsibilities
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) policy and provides guidance to the team to ensure compliance.
- Serves as the principal source of donor information throughout the allocation and procurement process to transplant centers, UNOS staff, and LiveOnNY Donation Coordinators.
- Serves as the organ allocation expert and provides critical thinking and decision-making regarding allocation strategy to prevent organ loss in accordance with applicable laws, organizational policies, and national regulations.
- Affords assistance to the Donor Center as needed, to take incoming calls, and enter referrals from our hospital partners and donor families.
- Effectively and transparently communicates pertinent donor information to transplant programs to protect patient safety and maximize organ utilization.
- Arranges ground and air transportation for recovery teams and develops case-specific transportation strategies to minimize organ ischemia time.
- Facilitates import kidney and pancreas allocation in accordance with LiveOnNY and OPTN policies, organ, kidney, pancreas, lung and liver organ offers.
- Captures transportation of blood, tissue typing materials and biopsies to laboratories.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a health-related field is required.
- And/or Associate’s degree with one to three years related work experience.
- Excellent Communication, Computer And Organizational Skills Required.
Pay
Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000
