Allied Health Instructor – Muskegon Area ISD Career Tech Center

About the role

The Allied Health Instructor – Muskegon Area ISD Career Tech Center is responsible for delivering relevant classroom and lab/workplace instruction, managing classroom activities and behaviors, integrating classroom instruction with employment-related activities, and maintaining open communications with students, families, and other education professionals.

Responsibilities

• Delivers relevant classroom and lab/workplace instruction using competency-based and outcome-based education techniques and strategies.
• Works closely with area employers and advisory committee(s) to develop pertinent course content and to maintain overall program credibility.
• Develops work-based learning sites for students.
• Affairs student progress using a variety of techniques and testing instruments.
• Maintains an appropriate level of two-way communication with parents and students.
• Works cooperatively with counselors, career specialists, business partners, and other professionals to create opportunities for students.
• Maintains accurate and legally adequate data keeping systems and student records.
• Assists in the development of program budgets and monitors budget utilization.
• Attends all required meetings and participates in all activities essential to program operations and Michigan Department of Education program requirements.
• Supervises and evaluates assigned paraprofessional and/or support staff.
• Makes referrals to any necessary specialized support services.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal.

Requirements

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant vocational specialty area.
• Possession of a valid Interim Occupational Certificate or Occupational Education Certificate in CIP Code area with appropriate industry licensure.
• If no Occupational Certificate, 4,000 hours of paid recent and relevant work experience in related field (within last 6 years), and appropriate licensure.
• Applicants can be from a variety of health backgrounds, including RN, OT, PT, EMT.
• Prefer valid Michigan Professional/Provisional Teacher Certification in related field.
• Communication, organizational and networking skills required.
• Excellent organizational skills, technology skills, communication skills and be detail and team oriented.
• Experience working with high school age students and diverse student populations preferred.
• A working knowledge of current practices and trends in the field of Career and Technical Education.
• An ability to supervise and manage the implementation of programs/services developed for students.
• No physical or mental restrictions that would, with reasonable accommodation, prevent performance of the essential job functions and responsibilities.
• Planning/Organizational Skills – Instructors must plan and organize their daily classroom and worksite activities to achieve the individual goals established for their students.
• Decision Making Abilities – Instructors must make frequent and suitable decisions regarding classroom activities, student performance, instructional strategies, etc. on a daily basis.
• Interpersonal Skills – It is imperative that instructors interact well and maintain rapport with parents, support staff, and colleagues.

Qualifications

Pay

This position is on the Career Tech Center Professional scale, $53,560.00-88,580.00 on the BA lane. Lanes available for BA+20, MA, MA+30, and MA+60.

This position is a 184 total paid days position.
