Responsibilities

  • Working in partnership with homeless service providers, the Supervising Attorney will provide holistic legal services to tackle barriers to clients becoming and staying housed.
  • In addition to representing clients and participating in community outreach events, including legal clinics, and developing relationships with service providers, the Supervising Attorney will handle and supervise attorneys, fellows and administrative staff.
  • Carry a caseload, which may include trials, appellate work, and administrative hearings.
  • Conduct legal research.
  • Bring critical expertise or experience and provides significant guidance and mentoring to staff across the organization.
  • Partner with other nonprofit organizations and government agencies, informing them and our client communities about their legal rights and ICLC services.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and complete case files and submits detailed monthly statistical reports to the appropriate ICLC administrator.
  • Work with appropriate government agencies to resolve client problems.
  • Partner with pro bono counsel to expand the volume of services that ICLC can provide.

  • Membership in the California Bar is required—unless you are eligible to practice as a Registered Legal Aid Attorney under Rule 9.45 of the California Rules of Court.
  • Three years legal experience required.
  • Prior supervision of legal staff preferred.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation.

Benefits

  • Compensation: We are seeking attorneys at all levels of experience. Salary ranges from $91,000 to $125,000 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

  • ICLC has a hybrid work environment.
  • This position will serve a nine-month probationary period.
