About the role

The Center for Adult and Community Services builds pathways for students to improve their lives and advance their careers through Workforce Development Training in high-demand fields such as Healthcare, Trades, Technology, and Education. Our Adult Literacy Program helps individuals earn their high school equivalency diploma, improve English language skills, or prepare for the U.S. Citizenship test. Expert instructors bring real-world experience and passion to their teaching.

Responsibilities

• Help adult learners strengthen their reading and writing skills through individual and group instruction.
• Develop and deliver lesson plans tailored to diverse needs.
• Create instructional materials and adapt teaching methods to support student progress.

Requirements

• Experience teaching adult populations.
• New York State Certification in Adult Education, English Language Learning Instructor, or be qualified to apply for certification.
• Must be available to teach in the evening; may include weekends.
