About the Role

This position requires travel and focuses on developing and retaining customers across various business sectors to maintain sales volume and profitability. The Alarm Superintendent oversees alarm files, service schedules, and coordinates technicians and administrative staff to ensure efficient execution of orders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and retain customers to maintain sales volume and profitability according to budget.
  • Create and maintain alarm files in databases and physical files.
  • Prepare and maintain service schedules.
  • Inform technicians of any collection or customer service issues.
  • Coordinate efforts of technicians and administrative staff for timely execution of orders.
  • Schedule new orders/accounts and ensure accurate back-office close-out procedures.
  • Follow up on repair items noted in inspection reports with quotations.
  • Forecast service manpower requirements.
  • Perform or review documents for the billing process.
  • Assist in financial-related issues as assigned.
  • Represent the company professionally at various functions.
  • Recruit, develop, train, and empower associates.
  • Understand permitting requirements of local authorities.
  • Provide Weekly Activity reports to the service operations manager.
  • Set the example for safety, including starting meetings with safety topics and ensuring timely incident reporting.
  • Ensure completion of JSAs, Toolbox Talks, Audit Forms, and monthly jobsite visits/observations.
  • Hold the team accountable for safety initiatives and safe driving of company vehicles.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally within the department and with customers.
  • Understand and follow HR and safety initiatives and processes.
  • Input and develop training requirements, ensuring commitment to training at all levels.
  • Manage timesheets, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to payroll.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is provided to complete jobs (e.g., scope sheet, budget, material list).
  • Oversee and manage the inventory system and material purchasing optimization.
  • Maximize production efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
  • Support and ensure team adherence to all company SOPs (e.g., Purchase Orders, Change Orders).
  • Monitor budget vs. actual job costing and participate in improvement meetings.
  • Submit work tickets timely with all required documentation (e.g., reports, pictures).
  • Participate in weekly team meetings to update job statuses.
  • Review reports and ensure customer satisfaction, discussing feedback for improvements.
  • Maintain quality control to reduce return trips and warranty work.
  • Foster teamwork through positive interactions within the team and across departments.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum education of high school diploma or equivalent; some secondary education is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of materials, tools, equipment, and procedures used in fire protection systems installation.
  • Understanding of applicable NFPA standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in all aspects of fire alarm installation, service, and inspections; 10+ years preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to take direction from upper management.
  • Maintain vehicle and tools as per company policy.
  • Valid state driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Knowledgeable with NFPA 72 rules and all necessary codes.
  • Ability to interact and communicate professionally with trades, customers, project managers, and officials.
  • Demonstrate positive teamwork, leadership, and mentorship.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Comply with all company safety practices and the safety handbook.
  • Complete projects timely while ensuring high-quality work and customer satisfaction.
