About the role
This position is located in Akers Hall. All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Responsibilities
- Prep, organize, prepare, and supply various food items pertaining to the salad bars, cold and hot food stations, and to-order service stations in one of the Residence Dining Halls
- Assists cooks by combining ingredients, portioning, and serving from prepared to order stations
- Maintains proper food handling and storage techniques to eliminate waste and spoilage
- Works directly with customers
Requirements
- Casual knowledge of food ingredients and correct preparation and serving techniques is necessary
- One-year satisfactory experience as a worker in a food related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable
- Willingness to work a flexible shift is necessary
- Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations is necessary
- Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds is required
Qualifications
Minimum requirements include casual knowledge of food ingredients and correct preparation and serving techniques, one-year satisfactory experience as a worker in a food related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience, willingness to work a flexible shift, standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations, and occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds.

Schedule
Monday 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Tuesday off, Wednesday through Friday 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., alternating weekends off.
