About the role
This role is for a Research Scientist with expertise in developing simulations for traffic management algorithms, particularly in strategic and tactical deconfliction systems. The candidate will contribute to a portfolio of simulation tools managing concurrent airspace traffic for aviation systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop fundamental simulation infrastructure code, including discrete event simulation tooling.
- Contribute to significant and impactful systems that will provide value for Amazon customers.
- Drive projects from the concept stage through development.
- Contribute to the development of expert knowledge of layers of mitigation and conduct in-depth scientific research on alternative solutions for conflict resolution.
- Engage in substantial software development in prototyping and production environments.
Requirements
- PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of quantitative field research experience
- Knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl
- Experience doing research on air traffic management algorithms
Qualifications
- Experience developing software in a production environment
- Experience publishing and presenting scientific research in professional journals or conferences
- Experience with building discrete event simulation tools from first principles, air traffic flow management, routing algorithms
Skills
