Airport Technician - EWR

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain proper spacing of bags and monitor the buildup of bags on the carousels.
• Ensure that the bags are aligned as required and immediately clear any resulting jams.
• Perform manual movement of baggage in the event of a system outage.
• Perform general cleanup of work areas in and around the conveyor equipment at a frequency required to maintain units free of trash, dirt and debris.
• Perform semi-skilled maintenance under the supervision of a Dispatcher or Supervisor.

Physical Demands

• Bend, stoop, and crawl to work in tight, restricted areas.
• Push, pull, lift and carry components weighing up to 40-75 pounds.
• Climb 10 – 25 ft. in height on ladders and perform duties.
• Stand 60 – 75% during an 8-hour shift.
• Operate the controls for a forklift or man lift (authorized employees only) in congested area.
• Drive vehicles weighing up to 3 tons on selected assignments in congested areas requiring good depth perception and ability to distinguish colors.
• Work in a high noise-level environment and tolerate dust and jet fumes.
• Communicate – verbally and written – in English and be understood by others.
• Be familiar with computers and Microsoft based operating systems.
• Regulate own work with little supervision and accomplish tasks on own.
• Work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).

Other Duties

• Help train new hires.
• Clean the bag room, MIT & TSA area.
