Responsibilities

  • Fabricates, joins, and/or repairs equipment, fixtures and various types of metal objects and structures using MIG, TIG, stick, or other welding processes.
  • Welds according to specifications and company/customer requirements.
  • Applies specialized skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment in area of expertise.
  • Executes welds in all positions including from underneath, to the side, in a variety of shapes and more.
  • Performs minor maintenance duties and assists trade technicians in and around airport facilities.
  • Responds to and corrects issues that may exist within the facility, equipment, or systems.
  • Reports issues found that could potentially lead to additional system and/or equipment failures.
  • Inputs accurate information into the CMMS.
  • Completes all duties in a safe manner and keeps all employees aware of dangers in work area.
  • Maintains a strong commitment to safety, housekeeping, and hazardous waste management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Technical/vocational or military training / related experience.
  • Welding Certification is Required.
  • Two (2) or more years weld experience with at least one (1) years of experience in general maintenance.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques including MIG, TIG, Stick - aluminum and stainless steel is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in all key weldments.
  • Ability to use personal computer or workstation.
  • Demonstrate ability to use all appropriate tools, measuring devices, forklifts, cranes, and fixtures required.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate personnel assignments within the department.
  • Effectively communicate and solve issues that cross departmental boundaries.

Qualifications

  • Regularly stands, walks, uses hands and fingers, handles or feels, reaches with hands and arms, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, cold, and vibration.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Skills

  • Good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Good hand / eye coordination is required.
