About the role

Serves as a trusted advisor to airports and aviation organizations, providing leadership in the planning, implementation, and digital architecture and implementation of operational, technology, geospatial, asset management, digital twin, and digital transformation initiatives.

Partners with airport stakeholders, HNTB project teams, and national practice leaders to improve operational performance, modernize business processes, and advance strategic airport objectives.

The position supports major airport programs from strategy through implementation, helping clients navigate complex operational challenges while ensuring successful project delivery, stakeholder alignment, and long-term value realization.

The Airport Operations Delivery Manager also contributes to business development, thought leadership, industry engagement, and the advancement of HNTB's aviation practice.

Responsibilities

  • Applies technical expertise and guidance in area of practice.
  • Acts as subject matter expert to provide strategic advice and analysis and engage in marketing and business development efforts for pursuits.
  • Prepares technical materials for projects, including strategic analyses, commercial documentation, technical provisions, procurement documents, and other materials pertaining to applicable subject matter focus.
  • Works with the line organization in a senior support role on strategically important client and project pursuits, providing technical input and market knowledge to navigate complex projects and enhance win probabilities and client satisfaction.
  • Targets national and international associations, trade shows, etc., to help the division/region/office identify leads, win work and maintain industry recognition.
  • Identifies, pursues, and executes high-level projects with assigned departments, agencies, and programs.
  • Affords assistance in the successful contracting and project execution process, working closely with regional HNTB staff and office leadership.
  • Promotes technical knowledge and applicability of practice area.
  • Works with HNTB project leadership to manage client relationships and guides the application of HNTB services within a specific practice area to best serve the interests of the client and HNTB.
  • Contributes to strategic planning in area of expertise and assists with thought leadership initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with 12 years of relevant experience
  • In lieu of degree, 16 years of relevant experience

  • Experience translating business challenges into clear strategies, scopes, delivery approaches, and measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to facilitate stakeholder conversations, discovery sessions, workshops, and decision-making discussions.
  • Strong project delivery instincts, including the ability to identify risks, clarify priorities, and advance work through ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines, practices, offices, and client organizations to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with executive, operational, and technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting strategic pursuits through client engagement, solution shaping, proposal input, and interview preparation.
  • Ability to build credibility and maintain strong relationships that support client trust, repeat work, and long-term partnerships.
  • Commitment to advancing thought leadership, market awareness, and practical innovation in support of client outcomes.
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to mentor others, strengthen team capabilities, and promote shared success.

Pay

The approximate pay range for New York is $180,596.86 - $360,607.36.

The approximate pay range for the California San Francisco Bay Area is $225,746.07 - $360,607.36.

The approximate pay range for Colorado is $198,656.54 - $317,334.48.

The approximate pay range for Washington, DC is $207,686.38 - $331,758.78.

The approximate pay range for Illinois is $198,656.54 - $317,334.48.

The approximate nation wide pay range for this position is $180,596.86 - $360,607.36.

Schedule

Location is flexible to any geography with an existing HNTB office.
