Airport Operations Assistant - Aviation Department
About This Position
In 2025, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) handled over 52 million passengers, making it one of the busiest airports in the U.S. PHX is part of the Phoenix Airport System, which includes Deer Valley and Goodyear airports, managed by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department (AVN). These airports contribute over $44 billion annually to the local economy.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Knowledge and experience of Part 139 Airfield and Part 1542 Security regulations and procedures is a plus.
- Two years of experience serving as a security guard and/or working in an airport capacity or environment.
- Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- Working conditions: Irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings. Working outside in various environmental extremes such as heat, cold, rain, air pollution, and dust. Walking for prolonged periods over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
- Criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- TSA general factors for disqualification of employment for working at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
- Experience with emergency response, observation and inspections, rule enforcement and compliance, excellent customer service, assisting customers in varying stressful situations, and resolving customer issues and providing information to the public in a friendly manner.
- Airport Certified Employee AAAE in Airport Operations or Airport Security or Airport Communications is a plus.
- Classes completed towards a bachelor's degree in aviation such as Aviation Management, Safety Science, Global Security and Intelligence Studies or any other Aviation related field is a plus.
Pay
Pay Range: $22.52 to $36.68 per hour. Hiring Range: $22.52 to $33.27 per hour.
