About the role

The Nashville International Airport's Department of Public Safety is a certified agency providing full police service, aircraft fire rescue, and emergency medical services to airport visitors.

Responsibilities

• Ensures strict compliance with MNAA and TSA standard operations, policies, and procedures.
• Utilizes, reports, and trains on proper records.
• Serves as first responder for medical emergencies.
• Enforces laws of the United States and Tennessee.
• Handles traffic crashes, moving citations, traffic control, and emergency calls.
• Investigates reported crimes, obtains arrest warrants, makes arrests, and apprehends suspects.
• Sweeps concourses for prohibited items such as explosives or dangerous weapons.
• Answers calls, including medical, unattended bag, water/fire alarms, and door alarms.
• Patrols terminal, parking lots, and perimeter fence.
• Responds to aircraft emergencies, including plane crashes, fuel spills, and aircraft escorts.
• Works with other agencies' warrants in other counties or states.
• Identifies environmental hazards and addresses in accordance with OSHA regulations.
• Operates ARFF vehicles, including firefighting mechanisms.
• Performs vehicular and pedestrian traffic control.
• Helps individuals in need, including finding shelter for the homeless and transporting individuals to mental health facilities when necessary.
• Conducts disaster exercise training.
• Maintains regular and on-time attendance.
• Follows all safety regulations.
• Supports MNAA’s commitment to its culture and values, including Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence (RISE).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of FAA and TSA airport security programs

Qualifications

• Required:
• High school diploma/equivalent and three (3) years of successful, consecutive work experience.
• Overall positive reviews of work performance from employers.
• No negative terminations of employment.
• Continuous full-time employment, averaging 30 hours or more per week.
• High school diploma/equivalent with certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the State of TN or nationally recognized certification.
• Two (2) years (60 semester hours) of academic studies from an accredited college or university.
• One to two (1-2) years of experience in law enforcement, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF), or Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
• Preferred:
• Certified High school diploma/equivalent
• Certified by the Peace Officers and Standard Training (POST) Commission on hire date.

Pay

• Starting Salary: $55,450 (uncertified); $61,106 (certified)

Schedule

• Shift: 12-Hour Shifts – rotation of every other weekend off; Teams A & B, 5:45 am – 6:15 pm; Teams C & D, 5:45 pm - 6:15 am.
