About the role
The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) is seeking dedicated team members to join the Field Maintenance team. Our award-winning team is committed to providing exceptional airport experiences, ensuring the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is clear for departure during winter months and maintaining the airport's appearance year-round.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance duties to FAA standards, including snow and ice control, groundskeeping, mowing, trash removal, fence installation, concrete, masonry repairs, and other duties.
- Operate specialized snow removal equipment, such as multi-function equipment (MFE), runway snow blowers, and road trucks.
- Install, repair, and replace chain-link fence, barbed wire, and sliding gates.
- Perform landscaping and turf management tasks, including grading, rut/fill depression filling, and application of weed control chemicals.
- Perform bituminous and concrete repairs on various airport surfaces, including sewers, drains, and catch basins.
- Empty trash receptacles and transfer debris to dumpsters or disposal sites.
- Inspect and maintain drainage systems and storm water control equipment.
- Contain and recover fuel spills, oil spills, rubber, paint, and other pollutants.
- Operate mobile and base-station radio equipment, maintaining contact with air traffic control and airport personnel.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, cleaning, and care.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) with airbrake endorsement.
- Satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods, including shoveling, carrying, etc.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and position up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors under severe and varying weather conditions for extended periods.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to climb in/out of vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to pass a criminal history and employment background check.
- Ability to pass a physical examination.
Desirable Requirements
- Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver’s license (CDL) with airbrake endorsement.
- Previous field maintenance experience at MSP or another airport.
- Two years of work experience operating commercial-rated vehicles, heavy equipment, and/or large agricultural machinery.
- Previous work experience in snow removal operations using a variety of snow removal equipment.
- Previous work experience in pavement maintenance, including concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
- Previous work experience in landscaping or parks maintenance.
- Previous work experience with chemical applications related to groundskeeping.
- Previous work experience in commercial property maintenance.
- Experience in the use of two-way radio equipment.
