Airport Endpoint Systems Technician (User Technology Specialist) - Aviation Department
About This Position
In 2025, more than 52 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), making it one of the busiest airports in the United States and a key hub in the nation's fifth-largest city. PHX is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System, which also includes Deer Valley and Goodyear airports, operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department (AVN). Together, these airports generate an annual economic impact of over $44 billion. The City of Phoenix Aviation is seeking an Airport Endpoint Systems Technician (User Technology Specialist). This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing critical business systems essential to the successful operations at Sky Harbor International, Deer Valley, and Phoenix Goodyear Airports.
Responsibilities
- Providing onsite support 5 days a week between 6 AM and 6 PM
- Serving as on call for one week at a time, on a rotational basis, to support the 24/7 operations of an airport
- Providing end user and back-end support
- Performing operational maintenance on hardware and software
- Developing and maintaining inventory of hardware and software
- Helpdesk support
- Systems and security support
- Server and network support
- Development of standard and customized images for PCs and other devices
- Troubleshooting hardware and software
- Hardware and software installation
- Database maintenance
- Security patch installations
- User account administration
- LAN administration
- Technical documentation
Ideal Candidate
- Solid troubleshooting skills in desktop computer hardware and software
- Proficient with performing installation and patching of Windows operating systems
Minimum Qualifications
- One year of experience in systems applications analysis, programming or telecommunications functions utilizing a variety of hardware and software or installation and maintenance of digital systems, radio, and electronic communications systems
- OR One year of experience in telephone station equipment and related telecommunications distribution systems
- OR One year of experience in avionics maintenance
- AND course work including training or experience with one or more workstation computers and one or more programming languages and one or more operating systems
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted
- Working irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required
- Successful candidate will serve as on call in a team rotation within 6 months of start date
- Alternate work schedules may be acceptable but not guaranteed

- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage
Preferred Qualifications
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- One year of experience with mission critical systems
- One year of experience providing audio visual support
- One year of experience with ServiceNow or other helpdesk ticketing systems
- Two years of experience working in an Active Directory environment
- Two years of experience using Microsoft PowerShell in an enterprise environment
- Two years of experience supporting more than 200 users and computers in a networked environment
- Two years of experience configuring, deploying, and troubleshooting enterprise desktops and laptop computers, printers, scanners and business applications
- Experience with security patch management
- Experience with the Tanium Endpoint Management
- Experience with Remedy Salesforce or other helpdesk ticketing systems
- Experience preparing workstation and laptop images and deployment of devices
- Experience creating and maintaining Windows Operating system images
- Experience identifying and remediating Zero day and critical security threats
- Experience with preventive maintenance and procedures of workstations and laptops
- Experience providing technical support for Microsoft Windows, macOS and Office in a network environment
- Experience with mobile device support including working understanding of mobile device management tools
- Experience creating and improving technical documentation; documenting the system specifications and design
- Experience working with vendors and stakeholders to obtain quotes and purchase IT related assets in an enterprise environment
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting computerized equipment and I/O (input/output) sub-systems in a real-time process control environment
Pay
- Pay Range: $31.68 to $49.15 per hour
- Hiring Range: $31.68 to $44.58 per hour
